The 82 dogs taken in during the rescue
overwhelmed the Humane Society of Montgomery County
in Conroe, Texas - their inital stop. But dedicated
workers there gave the dogs the first human contact
and care they had seen in a long time.

|
|
It was a Doggie Dunkirk as every available means
of transport headed for Conroe to take the dogs to
waiting rescue organizations. A Conroe shelter
worker, moved by the plight of the dogs, gave each
an individual farewell as the first group prepared
to leave for Austin.

|
|
|
|
Most of the dogs displayed obvious signs of
their ordeal in severe emaciation and open wounds
and sores.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
