It is not used as an ingredient directly in Duurstede Shampoo or Duurstede Conditioner as these proteins are very sensitive to pH. By mixing Duurstede Additive just prior to use, you receive the maximum benefit from the product. Designed as a protein filler for the hair, it works in an interesting way. A part of the hair, when damaged, is converted into short chain polypeptides, the ends of which protrude from the hair shaft. The protein in Duurstede Additive has been positively charged and is attracted to the negatively charged polypeptide chain. The hair and the Additive's proteins form bonds filling in the damaged areas of the hair.
